Ward 13 was born in 2001. I can remember little else beyond necessity. Demons. Chaos. Current. Inspiration. For the first six years, Ward 13 was known as Huone 13. The first releases were shape-shifting experiences, searching for form. During this time, there were three releases. Kylmä huone (2001), Coffee Brutal (2002) and Smoke (2004). None were promoted with any vigor I'm sorry to say, but Huone 13 managed to form a significant following despite zero level exposure. They are faceless. They are inside. Huone 13 has often had to sit idly by and give way to other projects during the years, most notably its "emotional half-brother" The Stranger, the folk metal entity Sudenheimo and the now-defunct hard rock outfit Smoke Society, to name a few. Though often put on hold, Huone 13 has always remained very much alive in the shadows. In 2007, during a time of change and renovation, Huone 13 became Ward 13. Likewise, the title for the next release was brought to light: phantomusiq. Whether phantomusiq will be the first of three chapters or encompass what may be considered a trilogy in and of itself, is still in the air. God is a knife and a mirror. phantomusiq is planned for a mid-2007 release. Aside from the upcoming audial experience, visual works are also looming in the horizon alongside other possible ventures. Stay tuned. Jason Doyle Ward
